Guardian Care During Crisis
Safe, compassionate temporary care during deployment, hospitalization, housing instability, family emergencies, and other serious hardships.
The Heroes Promise Foundation
You made a promise to your companion.
Our Heroes Promise is to help you keep it.
When your companion came into your life, you made a promise to protect them, care for them, and stand beside them.
A deployment, medical emergency, housing crisis, or life-changing hardship should not force you to break that promise.
Heroes Promise provides temporary Guardian Care, works toward reunification whenever possible, and offers a permanent home within the Heroes Promise Sanctuary when a dog can no longer return to their person.
Once welcomed into our Sanctuary, that dog becomes part of the Heroes Promise family for life.
We stand with you and your companion through every stage of the journey.
Safe, compassionate temporary care during deployment, hospitalization, housing instability, family emergencies, and other serious hardships.
Reunification remains our goal. We work toward the day when the crisis has passed and your companion can safely return home to you.
When returning home is no longer possible, a dog may be considered for permanent Sanctuary care and become part of our family for life.
Active-duty service members, National Guard and Reserve members, veterans, military families, and Gold Star families.
Law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical personnel, and other qualifying first responders.
Service animals and other eligible companion animals whose care is threatened by deployment, illness, housing instability, or crisis.
When resources and space permit, assistance may extend to civilians whose circumstances align with our charitable mission.
Our process is designed to be clear, respectful, and focused on protecting your companion and preserving your bond.
Share your circumstances, your companion’s needs, and the assistance you are seeking. Emergency situations receive priority review.
We confirm eligibility, consider safety and care requirements, and evaluate the Guardian Care resources currently available.
When assistance is approved, we coordinate appropriate temporary care and any needed foster or veterinary support.
We work toward reunion whenever possible. If a dog can no longer return home, permanent Sanctuary acceptance may be considered case by case.
The Heroes Promise Sanctuary is our permanent commitment to dogs who can no longer return to the person who loved and cared for them.
Once welcomed into the Sanctuary, they will never be treated as unwanted or passed along. They become part of the Heroes Promise family for life.
Comfort. Safety. Enrichment. Dignity. Love.
The physical Sanctuary will be developed responsibly in phases, but the commitment behind it begins now.
